I’m Henrietta Wilkie, founder of KHAYA Interiors. I believe a home should reflect the people who live there, and I love bringing together the colours, textures and details that make it feel like their own.
Based in Lancashire, I share my home with my husband, Hamish, our two children, two Labradors and a cat. Family life has shaped my appreciation for interiors that look beautiful but also feel comfortable, welcoming and easy to live in.
Having lived in different parts of the UK and South Africa, I’ve seen how the places we live and the things we collect shape our homes. Understanding what matters to you, what you want to keep and what needs to change is where my approach begins.
Travel, the English countryside and city life all influence my eye for colour, texture and detail. I’m drawn to the balance between the refined and the relaxed: rooms that feel thoughtfully put together without feeling too formal.
Living in older homes has also shaped my love of mixing old and new. An antique chest, an old painting or a much-loved piece can bring depth to a contemporary interior. For me, it’s about finding the right balance for each home and the people who live there.
Fashion is another creative influence, particularly the way an investment piece can sit alongside something simple and unexpected. I bring that same instinct to interiors, considering how pieces work together rather than choosing everything to match.
I continue to invest in my professional development and am currently undertaking a Diploma in Professional Interior Design with the National Design Academy, further developing the creative and technical skills I bring to every project.
